Lola and Maria are two Spaniards living in Melbourne, VIC. The two met through a mutual friend a bunch of years ago and hit it off instantly, becoming great friends and later on partners in this adventure!

As they established a happy life in Australia, the nostalgia and longing for links with their homeland sparked the idea to bring to Australia a traditional Spanish handcraft. They both loved espadrilles and had worn them since they were little girls, pretty much as any other mediterranean person, men or women. From flats growing up to wedges and platforms as youngsters, most Spaniards have at least one pair currently in their closet. Maria actually had 9 pairs! All of which sneakily made the luggage cull when she moved to Australia…

Being aware of the situation our home country is going through, there was also a desire to contribute somehow to the Spanish economy. We held on small companies to provide every single element of the chain including the soles, the fabric, the string and to hand make the shoes. Our factory and all the providers are located in a little Spanish village.

Zapas first collection Pieces of Spain is a tribute to the myriad of little details that compose Spain. We have gathered bites from different corners of the country and the culture hoping you all like them as much as we do!
